Youth Advisory Committee
EMPOWERING YOUTH TO SHARE THEIR VOICES AND STRENGTHEN OUR COMMUNITY.
The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is a sub-committee of the Community Alliance for Prevention. The Youth Advisory Committee is a diverse group of D203 & D204 high school students who develop leadership skills and make a positive impact on the community through implementing substance use prevention activities.
The Youth Advisory Committee envisions our community working together to support healthy choices so our community members can build healthy, safe and successful lives free of the challenges associated with substance use.
YAC members have the opportunity to:
- Learn about the risk and protective factors related to alcohol and other drug use.
- Learn about prevention strategies.
- Plan and implement two National Prevention Week activities related to the prevention of underage drinking and prescription medication/opioid misuse.
Our Impact
When Amy joined 360 Youth Services’ Youth Advisory Committee (YAC), she was shy and unsure of herself. Over the next couple of years, Amy found her voice and grew into a confident leader.
